“Fine art is an art insofar as it has at the same time the appearance of being nature.”
Immanuel Kant

It all started with Adam.
About us
Herbarium Studio is dedicated to pressing plants for the purpose of creating artistic herbariums. The plants used for pressing come from our own garden, with particular emphasis on wild species from Croatia’s rich native flora. Through years of dedicated work that every garden requires, and by encouraging natural biodiversity, the idea emerged of permanently preserving plant species through an artistic form. In this way, the herbarium becomes an object of aesthetic pleasure which, beyond serving as a decorative element, stands as a valuable and lasting reminder of the simultaneous fragility and strength of life. The entire creation process is done by hand. Each artistic herbarium is unique and includes an identification number indicating its year of production, paper format, and serial number.
FAQ

Herbarium preservation and care
To ensure their longevity, it is essential to protect them from direct sunlight (UV rays), excessive humidity, and extreme temperatures. Since this is a natural process, it should be noted that gradual color fading is inevitable; however, proper care can slow down this process. The composition and texture remain intact over time, giving the herbarium its unique value.
How long does it take to make a herbarium?
Creating a herbarium takes three to four weeks. In the case of pressing wedding bouquets, the process is longer, as it involves six to eight weeks of pressing, followed by three to four weeks of assembly. Ready-made artistic herbariums are available within one week.

The Significance of an (Artistic) Herbarium
Pressing and preserving plants has served and continues to serve botanists primarily for scientific study. Herbaria, in addition to their scientific purpose, soon become objects of interest among philosophers and artists, making them valuable subjects for aesthetic exploration. Moreover, herbaria teach us about the transience and the strength of life. They remind us of our own fragility, which relentlessly resists and endures, leaving behind a small but precious trace. Capturing a moment that is just slipping away and preserving it is the role of the artistic herbarium, which simultaneously teaches us about the importance of transience and about the eternal cycle that proudly triumphs over the smallness of the human species.
